FSU Sailing was founded in 1963, and we have been helping FSU students experience sailing ever since. Our organization focuses on competitive and recreational sailing, as well as Learn To Sail classes at the start of the Fall and Spring semesters.
The FSU Sailing Team is a part of our organization for our members who wish to be involved in competitive sailboat racing. Our team competes throughout the country during the Fall and Spring semesters. We participate in ICSA college sailing regattas in the Co-Ed, Women’s, Laser, and Offshore divisions, as well as local offshore and dinghy racing at Apalachee Bay Yacht Club. We host different recreational sailing events each week which include sailing at the FSU Rez and in the Gulf, out of Apalachee Bay Yacht Club. These events provide students the chance to experience different areas of sailing as well as develop new skills in the sport.
Our club works to create an atmosphere that promotes sailing to those who are new to the sport and provides opportunities for experienced sailors to take their skills to the next level. Sailing allows you to experience nature and adventure, but also helps develop leadership, confidence, critical thinking, and physical prowess. The memories and friendships made through sailing last a lifetime.
